Why do coast redwoods need fog?
Fog supplies coast redwoods with water during California's dry summers, when rainfall is scarce.
Their needles can absorb tiny fog droplets directly.
Fog also condenses on the canopy and drips toward the soil.

Your searchable library keeps locally available questions and results close on this iPhone. Drafts, permission choices, diagnostics, raw audio, and local setup remain device-specific; the privacy policy explains what may be hosted during connected research.
Visible boundaries
Private by default is a set of choices, not a slogan.
No FigLantern login. Curious uses an opaque, verified Apple customer identity instead of asking for your name, email, or password.
No ads or behavioral tracking. The app does not add advertising SDKs or third-party analytics.
Context is optional. You choose whether a curiosity includes photos or location before you request connected research.
Deletion is in the app. Delete one curiosity or use Delete All Data to erase the hosted library and local data for that installation.
One hundred completed cloud researches are included.
They belong to one verified Apple customer—not to each installation, and reinstalling does not create a second starter allowance. One is counted only after a usable cloud result is validated and saved. Failures and idempotent retries do not spend another.
This version is free, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Daily limits and service availability apply to cloud research. Capture, your locally available library, and supported on-device Apple features remain usable after the included allowance is used.

No. Curious can save and prepare a question offline. Sourced answers use connected cloud research.
Does voice leave my iPhone?
The raw audio recording stays on this iPhone. Usable text derived from the capture can be part of the research request.
Do I need an account?
No FigLantern username or password. A signed Apple verification establishes an opaque customer identity for cloud-research allowance.
Can I use it while traveling?
Yes for capture. If you are offline, the item waits locally; connected research resumes when service and allowance are available.
What happens at zero cloud researches?
You can still capture and use locally available content. This version does not sell additional research allowance.
